Most desk gadgets ship a fixed set of screens and leave you there. DeskProxy ships an SDK instead: every screen on the device is a tile — a mini-app written in plain HTML and CSS. Build the exact readout your work needs — your build status, your queue depth, your shop's orders, your bench sensors — and put it on glass you can reach.

• It works like a web page. HTML and CSS for the view, a pub/sub state bus any tile can publish and subscribe to, and an optional Python worker for background work. No firmware, no C++, no toolchain.
• Don't want to write the code? The docs are built to hand to an LLM whole — manifest spec, the full API, working examples. Describe the readout you want to Claude, GPT or Gemini, follow the packaging steps in the docs, and upload the tile to the app — on the screen a couple of minutes later.
• Interact with it by touch. Tiles aren't posters, they're interfaces. Bind a button to an action and the tap runs your code — start the job, ack the alert, toggle the relay, scrub the track.
• Give it more than one view. A single tile holds several takes on one subject and swipes between them. Weather ships current conditions, a five-day outlook and a multi-city board.
• It runs in a secured environment. Every tile renders in its own sandboxed browser view, and can only reach what it declared in its manifest — a list you see before you install. Anything not on that list is blocked — redirects and navigation included. API keys live in the OS keychain and are injected as the request leaves the machine, so the tile's own code never sees them.
